In late March I got to head to Crystal Cove State Park's beach twice with my parents, who were visiting from out of town. The first time we headed to the intertidal, the second we watched the sunset from the bluffs overlooking the beach.
Hiding in plain view, camoflauged perfectly, are a whorde of carnivorous predators. Colonia sea anemones, to be precise. But yeah, they just look like a pile of rocks.
